While many American manufacturers of this era had replaced much of the structural wood with metal there is still a vestige of it to help keep a restorer busy. |

Cord used wood to frame the trunk area and hinge the lid. The lid itself was also wood under the skin.There is no hope of correct alignment when the wood takes on the structural integrity of styrofoam. |

| The only solution is replacement with new wood. Accurate joinery both machine and hand-cut are essential to a successful restoration of this kind. |
