Another example of custom veneer
work.
The owner of this Dodge truck had ideas about
what he wanted for his interior; he just didn't
know what was possible. He did want to avoid
the applique appearance of wood kits. We were
after the more integrated look of factory original
parts that we could veneer. While more time
intensive, the resulting look is one of total integration.
Special forms and cauls had to be designed to aid
in the veneering process. As is always the case,
the factory lettering was replaced over the veneer.
We modified the shift lever by lengthening it 11/2
inches and giving it a curved end, to better fit the
driver's hand. Other parts not shown include a
custom steering wheel with a center section of
curly maple and gabon ebony. |
