Steam bending is a centuries old technique for bending solid lumber. Steam bending has been used to shape wood for automobiles since the dawn of the automobile industry, like the windshield molding for this Phantom II . We also employ steam bending for steering wheel construction for modern cars including this Bentley GT , this Range Rover, steam bent maple for this Ford F150, and these solid anigre and solid walnut Range Rover wheels.
